Lake Victoria, Kenya

Visitors to the Masai Mara, would hardly believe that a few hours away lies Lake Victoria, and the most populated area of Kenya. The major town in the area is Kisumu, Kenya's third largest.

Living around the shores of Lake Victoria, are the Luo people, who are both cultivators and expert fishermen. They have adopted and still use today the boat style that orginated from the traditional lateen-sailed dhows used by the Arab slave-traders during the early part of the century.
