AFRICA OVERLAND ACCOMMODATION  Most of our Africa overland tours are camping holidays, meaning you will spend most, if not all, nights in a 2-man dome tent. All tents are waterproof, have sewn-in mosquito netting, built-in ground sheets and flysheets. All tents are easy to erect and your crew members will give a demonstration and lend a helping hand in the beginning of your overland tour.Campsites vary from day to day and while you might find a campsite in an oasis of lush green grass, steaming hot showers, a crystal-clear swimming pool and a bar serving ice-cold drinks, the next night you might find yourself in the middle of Africa with the only facility being a long-drop toilet (no more than a hole in the ground). Occasionally you may even bush-camp, meaning the crew find a suitable spot, pull off the road and you are in the African bush. On some overland tours we use mainly travellers' hotels and hostels, varying from rooms with room service and en-suite bathrooms to more basic dorm rooms. Please note that all accommodation, both camping and hotels, is based on people sharing, however, a single room can sometimes be arranged. Occasionally campsites offer the possibility to upgrade, which means exchanging your tent for a bed, for the night. Your crew will advise you of the costs involved, normally you just have to pay the difference between the camping price and the price for the room. Please note that all our overland camping tours require you to bring your own sleeping bag & roll matt. However, some overland tours provide mattresses, but we will advise you upon booking your tour all the necessary requirements, etc. |
